Want to Learn Yacht Driving? Yacht License Level 2 Operator Course (Captain and Engine)

Want to become a yacht expert, professional boat owner, or maybe a stylish captain? Interested in driving speedboats and enjoying water activities like wakesurfing? Or perhaps looking to explore a new hobby? Consider taking the Level 2 Operator Yacht License Course!

The Yacht License Course, also known as the Level 2 Operator – Captain Course or Level 2 Operator – Engine Course, is designed for individuals interested in obtaining the Leisure Vessel Level 2 Operator Certificate issued by the Hong Kong Marine Department.

  • According to local maritime regulations, anyone driving a private yacht, speedboat, or personal watercraft must hold a valid local Level 2 Operator License (depending on the vessel’s length) to avoid severe penalties.

In Hong Kong, obtaining a license to operate a boat requires completing the Level 2 Operator Course.

Is it challenging to obtain the license? Not at all.

Do you need specific knowledge? No.

The exam consists of multiple-choice questions, without an oral test or driving assessment, making it easier than obtaining a driver’s license.

The course fee includes the Maritime Department examination and application fees, and by registering for the license course through Holimood, you can enjoy an exclusive discount of $100 on the examination fee.

Applicant requirements:

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and pass a vision test, including tests for color vision (color blindness, color weakness, and distance vision). If an applicant fails the color vision test, they can still operate a yacht but only during daylight hours.
