The Ultimate Guide to Yacht Catering & Menus

Gourmet Dining on the Water: What You Need to Know

Planning a menu for a yacht charter involves more than just picking delicious food; it requires understanding the logistics of a galley and local liquor regulations. At Holimood, we bridge the gap between fine dining and maritime safety.

BYOB vs. Licensed Bars (The AGCO Factor)

In Ontario, liquor service is strictly regulated by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO). Most of our premium yachts operate under a Special Occasion Permit (SOP) or a permanent liquor license. This means BYOB is generally not permitted on larger commercial vessels due to liability insurance. However, we offer customizable open bar packages or consumption-based billing with professional, licensed bartenders.

Catering Styles for Every Occasion

  • Cocktail Reception: Ideal for networking. Think high-end hors d’oeuvres like lobster sliders and truffle arancini that are easy to eat while standing.
  • Buffet Service: The most popular choice for weddings and corporate outings, allowing guests to choose from a variety of proteins and seasonal Canadian greens.
  • Plated Fine Dining: Reserved for smaller groups on our executive yachts, featuring multi-course meals prepared by a private chef on board.

Dietary Restrictions and Freshness

Given the confined space of a yacht galley, we recommend finalizing dietary requirements (GF, Vegan, Halal) at least 14 days prior to departure. Our catering partners prioritize locally sourced ingredients from the GTA to ensure peak freshness from dock to dish.
