🛥️ Boat Types ⛵

The first part of the boating process is choosing a boat, of course!

If you are looking for something more glamorous, we have several beautiful yachts for charter, as well as luxury cruisers.

For a regular old boat party with friends, we have junk boats!

Junk boats have a long and rich history, and they are unique to Asia, especially Hong Kong. As we are currently based in Hong Kong, and as most readers will be interested in more casual boating events, we will be focusing primarily on junk boats throughout!

Junk Boat

Q & A

Question: What type of boat should I rent for a formal event? What about for a casual event?

Answer: For a formal event, such as a wedding proposal, or a corporate networking event, we recommend booking something a bit nicer, like a yacht or a cruiser. For casual events, junk boats are extremely popular!

Q: Are there different types of junk boats? If so, what type should I rent for which occasion?

A: There are the standard junk boats, as seen above, as well as more traditional, wooden junks. Our wooden junks are only available at the city piers, and no water sports are included. If water sports are not a necessity, and if you want a more authentic junk boat experience, then our wooden junks are a good choice. Otherwise, opt for the more modern junks!

Q: How many people can fit on each type of boat?

A: All of our boats have maximum capacities ranging from 10 to 55 people, depending on the boat, and there is no minimum. Please double-check specific boat details on our website.

Q: What is the price difference between the types of boats?

A: Yachts will run from 6,500 HKD to 45,000 HKD. For cruisers, expect to pay between 4,500 HKD to 28,800 HKD. As for junk boats, they will cost between 2,100 HKD to 14,000 HKD. These prices may vary depending on the specific boats available, as well as the amenities offered on board and the extras you may choose to include. Though these prices may seem high, split among an average of 30 guests, it is usually only a few hundred HKD!

📺 Amenities 🔌

Depending on the type of boat you choose, there will be differing amenities on board.

Junk boats focus more on delivering a fun party experience, so their amenities will likely be less luxurious. But not to worry! Pretty much everything you need will be on board, and if not, we will let you know beforehand!

On the other hand, our cruisers and yachts promise to pamper and relax, so their amenities will be much nicer. As they say, you get what you pay for!

Q & A

Q: What are the amenities included on each type of boat?

A: You can expect these amenities on almost every one of our boats:

🍽️ F&B 🍻

Now that you’ve figured out the type of boat that will work best for your event, it’s time to look at F&B!

While some of our junk boat packages are all-inclusive, many are not. For example, a lot of our junk boats do not include drinks; however, you have the option of adding on third-party drink packages!

Additionally, our yachts and cruisers may include neither food nor drink, so we offer third-party food packages as well.

If not, we offer third-party food packages, as mentioned above. You can find them here. All menus and prices vary depending on the boat and the number of guests.

🏝️ Destinations 🗺️

You’ve got your boat choice down, as well as the food, drinks, and activities you will have on board. Now what?

Well, now it’s time to decide your boating destination!

Because Hong Kong has many beautiful urban cruise routes, and many more in the vast countryside of Sai Kung, the possibilities are endless. Additionally, there are several outlying islands you and your party can venture to!

You may already have a destination in mind; if so, be sure to check that you depart from the correct pier to shorten travel time. As always, these details can be found on our website, but here is a quick guide.

Lastly, the start and end piers should be the same. If you want to change where you get dropped off, it may be expensive. Please let us know beforehand!

Sai Kung Beach

Clear Water Bay

Po Toi Island

Q & A

Q: What are the best destinations if I want to stay close to the city?

A: The closest choice is probably Clear Water Bay, although Deep Water Bay/South Bay and Big Wave Bay/Shek O are also great choices. Read more about all three here!

Q: What are the best destinations if I don’t mind going a bit further to enjoy Hong Kong’s countryside?

A: The best choice by far for enjoying Hong Kong’s natural havens is Sai Kung. There are many islands in this vast area that have quite secluded beaches, as well as some very cool rock formations. A more in-depth guide to Sai Kung can be found here. For the 10 best all-inclusive junk boat party packages in Sai Kung, click here.

Q: What are the best destinations if I want to explore one of Hong Kong’s outlying islands?

A: Two of the larger and more popular islands are Cheung Chau and Lamma Island. For some more secluded spots, check out Po Toi and Tung Lung ChauMany of our recommendations require you to disembark, so maybe return another day on one of Hong Kong’s ferries!

💡 After choosing a destination, don’t forget to check that you will be departing from the correct pier. Once on board, you can always ask the boat crew for their route recommendations!

💁 Booking /Miscellaneous 💡

So, you’ve decided on all the details of your boat, as well as where you want to go.

Only one step remains…it is finally time to book and pay!

Boat Booking Example From Our Website

Q & A

Q: How far in advance should I book?

A: Our junk boats are our most popular type of boat. So, try to book weekday junks a month to two months before, and weekend junks two to three months before to ensure availability. For our other boats, there is much more availability, so a few weeks (or even one week) ahead of your departure date should be fine.

Q: What is your bad weather policy?

A: Our weather policy states that we will allow rescheduling if a black rainstorm signal and/or typhoon signal 3+ is hoisted 2 hours before departure on the scheduled date. Boat owners reserve the right to reroute or cancel boat trips due to adverse weather conditions, in which case you may also reschedule. Please stay in contact with us if the weather looks problematic!

Q: What is your cancellation policy?

A: We do not offer refunds, only reschedules. Furthermore, you can only reschedule the date of your boat trip once.

Q: What about children and pets?

A: Children are welcome on board, but there is no children’s discount. Pets are also welcome…on some of our boats. (There may be a small pet fee.)

Q: Do you offer half-day cruises?

A: We do not offer half-day cruises in the spring/summer, as this would not leave enough time for water activities. We do offer half-day cruises in the fall.

Q: Will the boat crew speak English?

A: Most will be able to speak basic English, but please double-check the languages of choice on our website!

Q: What happens if there is an accident?

A: We would hope your experience is a very positive one! But, we understand that accidents can happen. All boats are required to have third-party insurance in order to receive a boat license. Still, please be careful!
